Hyderabad: Gold ornaments worth Rs 18 lakh missing from Shankar mutt

The reason behind the delayed registration of the complaint is yet to be identified.

Hyderabad: Gold ornaments worth Rs 18 lakhs went missing from Shankar Mutt in the premises of Adikmet, under Nallakunta police limits. The police has registered a case of theft, and further investigation is underway.

According to the police, the theft took place a few weeks ago, but the complaint was filed on Friday.

The reason behind the delayed registration of the complaint is yet to be identified.

Nallakunta inspector of police K. Muralidhar said, “Gold ornaments were stolen from the locker of the institution. The temple management suspects that one of their own staff members has carried out the theft.”

Additional inspector Saidulu Nallakunta said, “One staff member who was in possession of the office key has been committing thefts since December and has stolen about 25 tulas of gold ornaments so far.”

Reportedly, two staff members have been taken into custody and are being questioned.
