Hyderabad: Court clerk booked for bribery

The accused served as a bench clerk in the court of the senior civil judge in Huzur-anagar, Suryapet.

Hyderabad: A case of criminal misconduct has been registered against Bellamkonda Goverdhan, currently serving as superintendent in the court of the additional junior civil judge in Kodad, for demanding a bribe.

The accused served as a bench clerk in the court of the senior civil judge in Huzuranagar, Suryapet. He was caught by the sleuths of ACB while demanding a bribe of Rs 3,000 from complainant Kanneboina Laxmamma for an official favour — to inform her about the hearing dates of a pending civil case.

“The accused officer was improper and dishonest in his conduct of duties and for that, he was arrested and produced in the special court for ACB cases. He was later remanded to 12 days of judicial custody,” said an officer.

As various departments have dropped corruption cases against the people caught by ACB in the past, Mr M Padmanabha Reddy, secretary, Forum for Good Governance, wrote to the Chief Secretary to order an inquiry on why the trap cases booked for disproportionate assets are being closed despite ACB’s arrest.
