Hyderabad: Rs 15 lakh cash seized from zarda units
Hyderabad: East Zone Task Force team raided on two zarda manufacturing units in Afzalgunj and Begum Bazar and seized Rs 15 lakh worth stash from the place and apprehended five men. Police also seized two packing machines, different types of chemicals and other incriminating materials from their possession.
The arrested were identified as S. Om Prakash, 53, Karan Sugandhi, 29, Kunal Sugandhi, 26, and G. Krishna Mohan, 46, owner of Spectra Enterprises Printing press, police said, adding that one Muneer from Bahadurpura is reportedly absconding.
“During the interrogation, Om Prakash confessed that his father had the business of manufacturing and supplying of zarda in Begum Bazar and that after his demise, Om Prakash started running the business along with his two sons namely Karan and Kunal. He has established two units of zarda manufacturing and is supplying the same in Begum Bazar and Osmangunj. He are doing this zarda business illegally and clandestinely and earning easy money. He procures raw tobacco material from one Munnar and packing material from one G. Krishna Mohan and has been running these two units for the last three years. He has some permanent customers in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana state and he supplies the same to them clandestinely on huge profit,” said the Additional DCP, S. Chaitanya Kumar.
On Thursday, on credible information the East Zone Task Force team and apprehended the man and his two sons from Kolsewadi of Begum Bazar and Kunal Sugandhi was apprehended from Tope Khana of Osmangunj.
The arrested accused, along with seized material were handed over to Afzalgunj and Begum Bazar police station for further investigation. The efforts are being continued to nab the absconding accused Munner.
