Bengaluru: A 33-year-old rowdy was brutally murdered by unknown armed assailants on Sarjapur Road in Varthur on Thursday night. The deceased, Selva Kumar, was a resident of Janaki Ram Layout. After visiting his wife at Rayasandra, he was returning in his car when the armed assailants accosted his car. Before Selva could react, they hacked him with machetes and fled from the spot.
Kumar was lying in a pool of blood and was writhing in pain. Passersby rushed to his help, but he died by then. The police rushed to the spot and shifted the body for the post-mortem.
The police suspect that Selvakumar was been done to death because of a personal rivalry. Selva was involved in several criminal cases and was a rowdy sheeter in Banaswadi police station limits. He was into real estate and had a difference with his friends over financial matters, the police said.
