Hyderabad: A 26-year-old techie working for a leading multinational company in Hyderabad complained to the Cyberabad Cybercrime Police that her husband had installed secret cameras in her room and also in the room of her mother and sister and recorded their movements.
She alleged that he demanded money from her family to clear his debts and threatened to upload the videos on social media if they failed to pay up.
Police has registered a case and started investigations. They seized his laptop and two high-end mobile phones and sent them for forensic analysis.
The couple got married in February 2016 and since both worked in Hyderabad, they lived in the wife’s parental home. A few months ago, she noticed that he was repeating to her conversations she had with her parents and describing what she, her mother and sister were doing in their rooms. She had her suspicions and did a check only to find the secret cameras.
When she confronted him he demanded money and sais otherwise he would upload the content on Net.
A few weeks ago, he went abroad on work and dismantled all the secret cameras. But he shared what he had recorded with his father and brother.
After he returned from abroad, he continued to harass her and her family, according to the complaint, and the wife then lodged a complaint with Cybercrime Police.
ACP Cybercrime S. Jayaram said that the content of the laptop and mobile phones of the husband have been analysed and there is nothing suspicious there.
“We are verifying all angles. We have sent his laptop and mobiles for forensic analysis. If any incriminating evidence is found, we will take appropriate action,” Mr Jayaram said.
