Hyderabad police booked a case against three alleged ISIS sympathisers for sedition and took them into preventive custody.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police booked a case against three alleged ISIS sympathisers for sedition and took them into preventive custody. The trio identified as Salman Mohiuddin, Abdullah Basith and Qureshi were produced before an executive Magistrate before being let off.

Sleuths of Central Crime Station on Wednesday picked the trio who were earlier nabbed for trying to join the banned terror outfit ISIS and subsequently released on bail, for questioning after a English news channel aired their interview allegedly showing their continuing links with the ISIS.

A case was registered against the them under sections 121 (Waging, or attempting to wage war, or abetting waging of war, against the Government of India) and 124A (Sedition) of the IPC and sections 10 and 13(b) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

After questioning, the trio were placed under preventive arrest and produced before the executive magistrate on Thursday.

They were later bound over before the executive magistrate under Section 107 of the Criminal Procedure Code and subsequently let off.

“A notice has been served to the news channel asking them to submit the original tapes of the interview to be sent for forensic analysis and also for their reporter to appear for inquiry and record their statement.” DCP CCS Avinash Mohanty said.

Salman Mohiuddin, a US-returned engineer, was arrested in Hyderabad in 2015 when he was preparing to board a flight to Dubai, allegedly on the way to Syria to join ISIS. Basith was among the three men who were arrested from Nagpur in December 2015 when they were allegedly on their way to join the ISIS, while Qureshi, who was earlier caught by police on similar charge was let-off after counselling.
