Government Railway Police suspects husband plotting Alpana murder

Sources in the GRP say that Alpana was epileptic, and Ashutosh was frustrated because of her frequent fits.

Nellore: The Government Railway Police suspect that Ashutosh Kumar and his friend Dharmaveer Kumar from Bihar may have plotted the murder of Ashutosh’s wife Alpana, who was pushed out of a speeding train in the early hours of Wednesday. Sources in the GRP say that Alpana was epileptic, and Ashutosh was frustrated because of her frequent fits. He planned to eliminate her by pushing her out of the train, and he offered his friend Dharmaveer Rs 20,000 to assist him in the murder.

As part of his strategy, Ashutosh made Alpana sleep near the door of the S8 coach, in the hope that he would be able to push her out during an epileptic attack, without attracting much attention. While she was asleep, he took off her gold rings and chain, and waited for her to start having fits. When there was no sign of an epileptic attack until 2.10 am, when the train crossed Ongole station, he decided to get rid of her anyway. To his surprise, she woke up when he and his friend were trying to push her out. This resulted in a scuffle between the three, after which the two men managed to push her out and kill her.

The police found scratches on Ashutosh’s chest and hands, indicating that there had been a struggle. They also found the woman’s gold ornaments in his pocket. GRP officers say that they are waiting for the deceased’s kin to arrive from Delhi, so that they can gather more information pertaining to the case.
