Hyderabad: Actress, filmmaker sue TV channel

Jubilee Hills police said the actress approached them with a complaint on Tuesday.

Hyderabad: Following a complaint from Actress Jeevitha Rajashekar and Producer Wakada Appa Rao, Jubilee Hills Police booked a case against news presenter of a vernacular news channel and another employee for insulting modesty of a women in their news.

I have put a defamation case and will not spare anyone, said the actress speaking to DC. "People cannot talk with baseless allegations against anyone they feel like. In the debate broadcasted on Maha news, Sri Reddy had defamed my character and had questioned my family too. I'm utterly disturbed by the nuisance going on Telugu film industry. If these so called social activist and news channel have proofs, they are welcome to reveal in front of media and I would accept my fault." she said.

The Police Inspector of Jubilee Hills, P. Chandra Shekar, said that the actress approached them with a complaint on Tuesday. "We have taken her complaint and booked cases against Sandhya and Maha news management under section 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 109 (abetting an offence) of IPC" he said.

"We come from a respectable family. They have talked rubbish about me and my family and have circulated the clip over social media without confirming any of the allegations made. This is not done. I will fight this case even if it takes an year to do so" said the actress.
