Hyderabad: A GHMC senior assistant fell into the trap laid by sleuths of Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB). Senior assistant P. Laxman Rao, working at the office of deputy commissioner, circle 20, West Zone, Serilingampally, was caught red-handed accepting bribe of an amount of Rs 20,000 from complainant V. Ranveer Bhupal, who is the Bill Collector of Municipal Corporation, Nizamabad, in return for an official favour of clearing his salary arrears and to send his last pay certificate (LPC) to Nizamabad.
The hands of the accused P. Laxman Rao proved positive in chemical test and the bribe amount was recovered from his office desk. The accused officer was arrested and produced before the principal special court for ACB cases of Hyderabad.
The ACB sleuths appealed that in case of demand of bribe by any senior assistant or employee of GHMC, the public is requested to contact toll-free number of ACB, i.e 1064 for taking action as per law.
