Hyderabad: Panjagutta police arrested a burglar, notorious for his ‘spidery skills’. Police said that Reddy Pogu Venkateswarlu, 37, climbs on to the balconies of apartments by clutching pipes and windows at the rear of apartment buildings, breaks into flats and steals gold and cash.
Venkateswarlu uses iron rods to break balcony door locks. He was imprisoned 10 times for thefts committed across AP and Telangana. The cops recovered 140 grams of gold, cash and valuables worth Rs 4 lakh from him. A native of Kurnool district, Venkateswarlu has five NBWs pending against him in AP and Telangana.
“He moves around in the wee hours and selects locked apartments. He climbs buildings clutching on to pipes and windows at the back and reaches balconies,” said inspector S. Ravinder.
Venkateswarlu uses the money from his thefts to buy alcohol. Last year he was arrested by Pakala police.
