Hyderabad: IRS officer arrested in dowry case

The accused, Kotapati Vamsi Krishna, is alleged to have physically abused his wife, K Sravani.

Hyderabad: Jubilee Hills police on Tuesday arrested an Indian Revenue Service officer, who is the assistant commissioner of income-tax in Vijayaw-ada, for allegedly harassing his wife for dowry.

The accused, Kotapati Vamsi Krishna, is alleged to have physically abused his wife, K. Sravani, a civil services aspirant. Krishna is now facing the charges of dowry har-assment, criminal intimidation and cheating, based on a complaint filed by Sravani’s parents.

According to the complaint, Krishna had demanded Rs 10 lakh cash, 400 gram gold, 2 kg silver and a flat at Road No. 2, Banjara Hills worth Rs 60 lakh. He married Sravani in February of 2015 but just months after the wedding, the accused started demanding more dowry from her parents.
