Bengaluru: Notorious burglar held, booty worth Rs 45 lakh recovered
Bengaluru: The Hanumanthanagar police arrested a notorious burglar, Kommaghatta Manja, his associate and another man, who bought stolen goods. The police also recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 45 lakh.
Apart from Manjunatha alias Kommaghatta Manja, 33, a resident of Kommaghatta in Kengeri, the other arrested are Manikanta alias Malasri, 27, who hails from Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu, and Ganesh Bera alias Ganapathi, 36, a resident of Nagarathpet.
A burglary reported in the house of Krishnaswamy, a resident of Sheshaganapathi Temple Road on Hanumanthanagar, in February when he and his family had gone to Kerala.
The burglars had escaped with 190 gm of gold jewellery. The police, who launched a probe, zeroed in on Manja’s gang. Based on credible information, Manja and Manikanta were arrested on April 10.
“They confessed that the other accused, Ganesh, was buying the stolen gold and silver articles from them. On their information, Ganesh was also arrested. Stolen valuables worth around Rs 45 lakh, including 1 kg of gold jewellery, 20 kg of silver articles, cash, foreign currency and a Hyundai i20 car were recovered,” the police said. This gang burgled 45-50 houses in 10-15 police limits in the city and had nearly 30 cases against them.
