3 arrested for senior's murder
Hyderabad: Police on Monday arrested a three members of an interstate gang, one of them a 45-year-old woman, involved in the murder of 62-year-old Abdul Rahman Bin Ameer at his house in Bhavaninagar on April 10. Police said one of the tenants who owed Rs 80,000 to Ameer exploited his homosexual habit, hatched a plot with her boyfriend and two others, and killed him. Police seized 18 tolas of stolen gold ornaments, a mobile phone and a knife from their possession.
The accused were Shabnam Patan, Amzad Khan and Sheikh Jabbar. Another accused, Sheikh Sikander, is absconding. South Zone DCP V Satyanarayana said that Shabnam, 45, was a tenant at Ameer’s house in Bhavaninagar since five years. In 2011, she borrowed Rs 80,000 from him for her son's marriage and was repaying in instalments along with the house rent. A few days ago, Ameer demanded that she return the amount in one go.
“As she could not find a way to repay the amount, she contacted her old friend from Maharashtra, Jabbar. Jabbar was already accused in a murder case under Santosh Nagar police station in 2014. He along with Shabnam decided to kill Ameer. Jabbar roped in his two friends, Amzad from UP and Sikander from Maharashtra,” police said. Shabnam spoke to Jabbar about Ameer’s homosexual tendencies. Jabbar called Ameer and introduced himself as a friend of Imran, with whom Ameer had a relationship, and went to his house at night. After making him drunk, he called Amzad and Sikander, and strangled Ameer to death. The trio broke the almirah lock and decamped with the 18 tolas of gold ornaments Based on the mobile call data records, police nabbed Jabbar, Amzad and Shabnam and seized the booty. The arrested were sent to remand.
