Man arrested for looting transgender partner

After befriending her for a few days, he gave her a cold drink laced with sedatives and took away all her gold jewellery

TIRUPATI: Tiruchanoor police on Saturday arrested a middle-aged man in a live-in relationship with a transgender person for relieving the latter of her jewellery near Tirupati. The accused has been identified as C.P. Kumar (46), a native of Pallicheruvu village in Aragonda panchayat of Chittoor district.

According to police, Kumar met the transgender near Indiramma housing colony at Daminedu on March 14. After befriending her for a few days, he gave her a cold drink laced with sedatives. As the transgender went unconscious, the accused took away all her gold jewellery, worth approximately ₹3.5 lakh and vanished.

Following a complaint lodged by the transgender, Tiruchanoor police launched a search operation and arrested Kumar in Tirupati on Saturday near Srinivasa Kalyana Mandapam. The accused was later sent to judicial remand.

In another case, Tirupati Urban police on Saturday arrested an inter-district thief involved in multiple burglaries as well as peddling of ganja. Accused P. Sai Kumar, a native of Tanakallu mandal in Anantapur district, was involved in a theft case reported in Ashok Nagar locality on March 10.

Following a complaint, police nabbed Sai Kumar near Tirupati on Saturday. They recovered from him two diamond rings and two gold chains, apart from 3 kg of ganja. Police said Sai Kumar had served a jail term in the past.
