Hyderabad: Man sets himself ablaze, succumbs

For the last one year, Monika has been living with her parents at Kurnool and was not coming back due to the petty issues between them.

Hyderabad: Depressed over separating from his wife, a man attempted suicide by setting himself ablaze on the railway tracks at Lingampally railway station on Sunday. The victim, Siva Yadav, 29, was rescued by the locals and admitted to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to the Government Railway Police, at about 9.40 pm on Sunday, one Allakanda Shivashanker, 29, set himself ablaze using petrol near the railway tracks at Lingampally railway station. His father Yadagiri and the locals noticed him and rushed to rescue him. He was rushed to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad for treatment.

GRP sub-inspector Ahmed Pasha said that Shivashanker had married Monika and the couple had two children. He used to sell vegetables while Monika looked after the kids. For the last one year, Monika has been living with her parents at Kurnool and was not coming back due to the petty issues between them.

“Unable to tolerate the separation, Shivashanker attempted suicide. He suffered 90 per cent burns and succumbed. A case of suspicious death has been registered for the probe,” said SI Pasha. In another case, an unidentified person set himself ablaze using alcohol at Lal Darwaza under Shah Ali Banda police station limits. He was rescued by traffic personnel and referred to OGH.
