Bengaluru: Three mowed down by lorry
Bengaluru: Three people, including a nine-year-old boy, died on spot when lorry rammed into their bike near Bommanahalli gate on Saturday night in Nelamangala traffic police station limits.
The deceased have been identified as Anand, 45, his son, Vishal and his cousin Shashidhar, 22.
The family lived in Hanumanthapura and the incident took place around 8 pm when the trio was returning from a wedding.
According to the police, the driver of the lorry, which was bound for Tumakuru, lost control over the vehicle and took a sharp turn towards right.
The lorry crossed the divider and rammed into a bike and a minibus which were coming in the opposite direction.
The bike riders died on the spot, while four people in the minibus sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital. The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and fled.
The Nelamangala traffic police have registered a case and are on lookout for the driver.
Pedestrian killed
In another incident, a 48-year-old man died on spot when a speeding truck knocked him down while he was trying to cross the road in Whitefield on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Shankar, a resident of Seetharampalya and used to work as a lorry driver.
According to the police, the accident happened when he was returning from his relative’s house in Hosakote.
He got down from the bus on the main road near Hope Farm in Whitefield and died while he was trying to cross the road.
The Whitefield traffic police have registered a case and arrested the truck driver, Raju.
