Telangana: Alcoholic mother kills 8-year-old son by banging his head to wall

Hyderabad: An alcoholic mother has banged the head of her eight-year-old son to the wall after he “refused to eat food”, resulting in his instant death. The incident took place in Vikarabad town. “Faimina Begum wrapped her son Rehan’s head with a towel and banged him to a wall on Friday night,” the police investigating the case said.

Faimina Begum hails from Vikarabad. She was married to Qadir and bore three children from him -- Mariyam(11), Rehan(8) and Zakia(7). They were living in Hyderabad, but a year after Zakia’s birth, Qadir left the family and is missing. Faimina along with her three kids shifted to Vikarabad, and was living in a rented house in Shivareddypet village. Faimina is addicted to alcohol, worked as a housemaid and did tailoring as part time. The three kids were studying in classes IV, III and I respectively in a private school.

On Friday evening, after returning from school, the kids completed their homework and started playing. At night, Faimina served food to the kids, but Rehan continued playing outside and did not walk in for long. Faimina was already drunk and in an inebriated condition. She dragged Rehan into the house and started beating him. His other siblings intervened but she continued thrashing him. As he cried aloud, she covered his head with a towel and allegedly banged his head to the wall repeatedly. The boy collapsed and fell to the ground.

Noticing that the boy died, she took the body, collected her other kids and rushed to her maternal home in Shivareddypet village with a plan to dispose of the body at night. Neighbours noticed her movements and alerted the police, said Vikarabad inspector G. Ravi.
