Chennai: 50 sovereigns, cash burgled, car missing too

They had gone to Kerala to attend a family event over a week ago and when returned, found locks on the doors broken.

Chennai: Miscreants entered a house in Madharavam and fled with 50 sovereigns of gold and other items.

The incident came to light when the resident, Vijayan, 65 and his wife Sarala, 60, who was a retired sub inspector returned home in C K M Colony in Madhavaram on Friday morning.

They had gone to Kerala to attend a family event over a week ago and when returned, found locks on the doors broken.

They rushed inside the house only to find the bureau broken and valuables stolen.

The burglars escaped with 50 sovereigns of gold jewels, their car and

Rs 10,000 according to the complaint lodged by Vijayan at Madhavaram police station.

Based on the complaint, the Madhavaram police registered a case and investigation is on based on the recovered CCTV footages from the spot.

Police have also launched a manhunt to nab miscreants.
