Bengaluru Police arrest five on charges of honey trapping people
Bengaluru: Five people, including three women, were arrested by the Kothanur police for honey trapping people.
The accused have been identified as Shahin Mohammed Sardar, 40, Shama Fayaz Ahmed alias Noori, 35, Salma Parvin, 27, all three of them residents of Hegdenagar, Sajid Ajij Sheik, 38 and Shabbir Riyaz Sharif, 30, residents of Kodigehalli.
According to the police, the female accused would try to befriend men by intentionally calling them under the pretext of a wrong number. They would also try to entice them by offering young women for physical relationship.
Once the victim visits their house, they would show a young woman and direct them towards the bedroom and lock the door from outside. Later a man would enter the bedroom claiming that he woman is his wife.
He would take a video of them in nude and demand money from the victim, threatening him of a rape case or uploading the photo on social media. One such victim lodged a complaint with the police and took them to the woman’s residence at Hegadenagar.
The police immediately arrested the five and are on lookout for the other two accused, Saleem alias broker Saleem and Asif alias Mental Asif, who are absconding.
The accused have extorted sums ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh from many people. The Kothanur police have registered a case and have seized their mobile phones.
