Devadula tunnel caves in, 2 killed

The bodies of the two Nepal natives were shifted to MGM Hospital in Warangal for postmortem.

Warangal: A welder and a foreman died after the roof of the Devadula tunnel they are working in came down upon them during the wee hours of Sunday. According to the police, the incident took place at Inchecheruvupalli in Venkatapur Mandal of Jayshankar Bhupalapalli district.

The workers were identified as Karam Bastar, 25, a welder and Deepak Kumar, 28, a foreman, both natives of Nepal. While the former died on the spot, the latter succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital. The bodies were shifted to MGM Hospital in Warangal for postmortem.

Mulug DSP Raghavender Reddy and inspector Sai Ramana visited the spot and took stock of the situation. The leaders of Navodaya Coastal Karmika Sangham have demanded the officials to pay an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the deceased workers’ family.
