Bengaluru: Ganja in sweet lime, biryani! Four arrested
Bengaluru: The Parappana Agrahara police have arrested four people in separate cases while they were trying to sneak ganja inside the central prison in the last two weeks. The accused had concealed the contraband in sweet lemon and biryani packets.
The police, who had information about ganja being smuggled into the prison, had kept a watch on the movement of suspicious persons. In one such case, Naveen Kumar, 26, and Sanjay, 20, both residents of Bapujinagar off Mysuru Road, were held when they were trying to smuggle the contraband hid inside sweet lemon.
“When the fruits they were carrying were examined carefully, it was found that they had carefully removed the fruit inside by making a small hole at the pedicel. Then they had stuffed ganja into it, without peeling or damaging the outer layer. Their questioning revealed that they wanted to give it to their friend, Ashoka, who was lodged in the jail.
They had taken appointment to meet him and had planned it this way as it would not gain the attention of the prison staff,” an official said. The police seized 402 grams of ganja from the duo.
In another operation, Sanju, 21, a resident of Austin Town, was arrested when he was caught smuggling ganja packets hidden in biryani parcel. “His friend, Abhilash, is lodged in the jail and is a drug addict. To supply ganja to him, Sanju had brought ganja hid inside the parcel. He had kept ganja sachets first and then had packed the parcel with biryani to cheat the prison staff. Based on information, the parcel was checked and his idea fell flat,” the police said, adding that 402 g of ganja was seized from the accused.
Meanwhile, Balaraju, a resident of Chikkabegur, was caught when he was trying to pass on ganja packets to an inmate. Ganja weighing 150 grams was seized from him.
