Bengaluru: Cop assaulted by four youth

The injured police officer, identified as Penchalaiah, was on his way home after his duty.

Bengaluru: A head constable attached to Nandigiridhama police station was allegedly beaten up by four drunken youths after he caught them consuming alcoholic at a prohibited area near the foothill of the Nandi Hills on Tuesday night.

The injured police officer, identified as Penchalaiah, was on his way home after his duty, when he noticed a gang of four men sitting in a parked car near the Nandi foothills close to a police station, drinking and creating nuisance.

According to the police, when Penchalaiah questioned the men for consuming alcohol at the prohibited area and a public place, the youths started arguing with him. Soon it got heated and led to physical fight, the police said.

While two of them and the cop were involved in fisticuffs, two others were in the process of separating them. Penchalaiah got injured in the melee.
He alerted his colleagues, who rushed to the spot and detained all the accused.
