Visakhapatnam: The POCSO courts in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram on Tuesday awarded 23 and 25 years’ imprisonment to two two youths for raping minors in two different incidents.
Special judge for Pocso court in Vizianagaram, K Nagamani sentenced a 22-year-old man to jail for 23 years and six months. As per the case, he had sexually assaulted a minor girl in June, 2019. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 11,500 on the accused.
DSP in Bobbili of Vizianagaram district, P Sridhar, said G Laxmana alias Chinna sexually assaulted the minor girl in a village under Bobbili police station limits. Based on the complaint from her parents, the police registered a case against Laxmana. Judge Nagamani gave the convict a rigorous jail sentence of over 23 years.
In the other incident, the Visakhapatnam special court for Pocso cases convicted Jartha Rambabu of Chintapalli mandal for repeat rape of a minor. The girl finally gave birth to a baby. The victim and the accused are tribals from Chintapalli mandal of ASR district.
