Divya Tejaswini’s parents seek retributive justice for their daughter
Vijayawada: V. Joseph and Kusuma, parents of Divya Tejaswani who was stabbed to death by a stalker, a couple of days ago, have submitted a letter to home minister Mekathoti Suchiratha seeking justice for their daughter and stern punishment for the culprit, Budigi Nagendra Babu, alias Chinna Swamy.
Demanding that the punishment should be so severe that it should send strong messages to those intending to harm children and women, Divya’s mother Vimala said that Babu should be hanged to death or killed in an ‘encounter’. She said that in Christurajapuram, youth are addicted to gutka, ganja and liquor and are transforming into maniacs. She appealed to the departments concerned to intervene and take action against them.
Sucharita, who came to Vijayawada on Saturday and consoled the parents, said that the murder of Divya who was stabbed 13 times was cruel. She assured her parents that justice would be done and stern action taken against the culprit following the law.
Saying that women should become aware of the law and girls should inform their parents if they are subject to any harassment, she added that parents should also be supportive of their children and not hesitate to lodge a complaint with the police. Every girl should know to dial 100 and police services to prevent such incidents.
She said that once the Disha law is enacted, a man who commits rape or murder will be sentenced to death. She said the Union government returning the Disha bill has suggested making amendments to the Disha Act.
