Hyderabad: Five persons, including two minor boys, who allegedly beat up an autorickshaw driver and robbed him were arrested. They later escaped in his vehicle. The arrested people are Mohammed Mukthar, Mohammed Naseer Khan, Mohammed Naseer Ahmed Khan and two boys aged 17.
Police said the suspects had hired the victim’s autorickshaw at Punjagutta on Tuesday night for a drop till Golconda. While passing through a lonely area in Jamlikunta they stopped the vehicle to relieve themselves. They then pulled out the driver, beat him up severely and drove away leaving him behind. “Their idea was to sell the vehicle as scrap and use the money for luxuries,” inspector Fayaz said.
Police found that Mukthar and the 17-year-old boy were earlier involved in robbery cases in Charminar and Moghalpura.
