BENGALURU: A 25-year-old pedestrian was mowed by a speeding BMTC bus near Nanjappa Circle in Vidyaranyapura under Hebbal traffic police limits on Monday afternoon.
The police arrested the bus driver, Lakshman, for rash and negligent driving. The deceased, Prakash, was a labourer and a resident of Mathikere. The accident took place around 3.15 pm near Nanjappa Circle in Vidyaranyapura while Prakash was crossing the road. The speeding BMTC bus which was heading to Vidyaranyapura from Majestic knocked him down, the police said.
Passersby informed the police and handed over the fleeing driver to them. A case under Section 304 A was registered at the Hebbal traffic police station.
