Hyderabad: 6 students hurt on way to school
Hyderabad: Six school children had a narrow escape when the auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling to school overturned on the main road near LB Stadium on Tuesday morning. Two students suffered injuries while the others escaped unhurt. According to Saifabad police, the accident took place at around 8.30 am when the students were heading to St. George’s Grammar School in Abids.
Auto driver Akbar had collected the students from different places and was transporting them to school. When the auto reached LB Stadium area, the auto driver swerved to avoid hitting a bike, leading to the auto overturning on the road. Two students, P Rithvik, 6, and Mayank, 10, suffered injuries in the accident, while others escaped unhurt, police said. The injured were taken to a private hospital at Boggulakunta in Abids and discharged post treatment.
Based on a complaint from P Saidulu, father of injured Rithvik, a case has been registered against the auto driver under sections 337 and 279 of IPC. The auto-rickshaw was carrying six children, the maximum permissible as per rules.
A team of engineering wing of traffic police will examine the cause for the accident and suggest measures necessary to avoid such accidents.
