The deceased has been identified as Sumanth, a resident of Basaveshwaranagar in the city. He was working as a software engineer with a private company in the city. Sumanth drove to Gudnahalli in Anekal taluk from his residence to commit suicide.
The police said he was depressed and jumped into the lake in Gudnahalli village after parking his car (registration number KA 51 N 8958) on the roadside.
He left his house on Thursday morning and reached near the lake in the afternoon. However, he spent some time near the lake before taking the extreme step, the police said. They then alerted the Anekal police, who rushed to the spot and began the rescue operation with the help of fire and emergency service officials. After hours of struggle, Sumanth’s body was fished out by fire and emergency service officials, with the help of local police.
