Hyderabad: The family of a Hyderabadi woman, who is reportedly facing mental and sexual harassment from her employer in Saudi Arabia, has sought help of external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj to secure the release of the victim.

The victim, Humera Begum, had reached Saudi Arabia on an Umra visa, arranged by an agent, Sayeed, based in Bandlaguda.

The victim’s sister, Reshma, has alleged that her sister is often beaten up by the employer and is also denied food.

“One person tried to assault my sister sexually. She ran away and escaped. But, they managed to get her back and later, they locked my sister in a room for five days,” Reshma said.

The victim, Humera Begum had reached Riyadh on July 23.

“The agent had told Humera that she would have to work as a caretaker for a four-member family on a monthly salary of Rs 25,000. However, when she reached Riyadh she got to know that they were 12 people in the family,” said Reshma.

“We contacted the agent, and are now being threatened by him. When we went to meet him at his house, he attacked us,” she alleged.  The victim’s family has sought help of the government to secure the release of the victim.
