Family rivalry led to double murder in Tempalle: Police
Vijayawada: The murder of a woman and her son at Templalle village in Gannavaram mandal has brought to fore the rivalries in between different groups in the district.
A woman and her two sons were severely injured after being attacked by an alcoholic, having rivalry with them.
According to the Gannavaram police, Jonnalagadda Srinivasa Rao, a farmer living in Tempalli, was married to Jonnalagadda Nagalakshmi, 32, and the couple have two sons Avinash, 7, and Akash, 5.
Gongati Basavayya, a resident of the same village, developed grudge against Srinivasa Rao’s family after his son died falling into a pond in the village. There were rumours of Srinivasa Rao’s involvement in Basavayya son’s death.
Last Monday, both the families participated in Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations and Basavayya, in an inebriated condition, attacked Srinivasa Rao's family.
Around 300 villagers, who participated in the procession, were shocked to see Basavayya attack Srinivasa Rao’s family. However, Basavayya left the spot.
On information, police reached the spot and tried to shift them to the hospital but by that time, Nagalakshmi and Avinash died. Akash was admitted to Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Medical College Hospital and is undergoing treatment.
“We registered a case and identified that Gongati Basavayya is the prime accused in this case. He is absconding and we will catch him soon,” said DCP Gajarao Bhupal.
Meanwhile, the villagers refused to speak on the issue. The family members of Srinivasa Rao demanded action against Basavayya and other villagers, who levelled false allegations, that led to the death of mother-son duo.
