4 sentenced for abusing shop owner in SR Nagar

HYDERABAD: Four youths were sentenced to undergo 18-day imprisonment on Tuesday after being found guilty of assaulting a shop owner when he asked them to pay money for the cool drinks that they consumed.

On July 16, the accused, in a drunken state, assaulted the shop owner in Bapu Nagar, SR Nagar after he asked them to pay money for the cool drinks.

They refused to pay money and instead abused the shop owner and thrashed him, S.R Nagar police inspector K. Saidulu said.

Based on the victim's complaint police on Tuesday arrested the accused, registered a case under 323 of IPC, 70 (A), 70 (B) of the Commissioner of Police Act and produced them before the court.

The accused were identified as Rocky Phillips, Mohd. Maaz Khan, Mohd. Arbaaz, and Mohd. Taimur, all working in private companies and residents of SR Nagar and Sanathnagar, Syedulu, SR Nagar police inspector said.

“After being produced before the Special Metropolitan Magistrate A. Laxman Rao, the Nampally court sentenced them to jail for 18 days,” Saidulu, said.

Senior police officials appreciated efforts made by the SR Nagar police officers who arrested the accused and produced them before the court along with evidence.
