Coimbatore: A 25-year-old daily wager was held under the Pocso Act for attempting to sexually assault a nursing student.
Police said, Kalidhas, a daily wage labourer, was residing with family near Pollachi- Ramanamuthalipuram. A few days ago, Kalidhas had allegedly made an attempt to sexually assault a third-year nursing college student, his neighbour, while her parents were out of home.
Kalidhas fled as the girl raised an alarm. A complaint was filed at the Kotoor police station by the girl’s parents. He was arrested on Wednesday was imprisoned at the Central Prison here.
Acting on the complaint, a police team launched a search and arrested Kalidhas under the Pocso Act on Wednesday. Kalidhas was imprisoned at the Coimbatore Central Prison after being producing in court.
A higher police official told DC that Pollachi in recent days witnessed more number of cases related to women sexual harassment.
