Hyderabad drugs racket case: Custody of 3 more sought for evidence

So far, the enforcement wing of the Prohibition and Excise department has registered four separate cases.

Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team, constituted for drug cases, is seeking custody of three more accused in the case to collect more evidence to gear up their investigation.

So far, the enforcement wing of the Prohibition and Excise department has registered four separate cases and recently took the prime accused Calvin Mascarenhas and two others from the Old City — Md. Abdul Quddus and Md. Abdul Wahed — and grilled them on a few code words utilised in the conversations of WhatsApp.

In order to collect more evidence on how the racket widened the network to schools and colleges, the STF is seeking custody of other accused persons Kundan Singh (23), Aman Naidu (25) and V. Nikhil Shetty (23).

Director of Enforcement Dr Akun Sabharwal said that the STF would take the trio into its custody for collecting some strong evidence related to the case.

An official said that there was not much time to question the trio during their arrest and as per rules; the Special Task Force produced them before court.

“Now, we are seeking more information on how they trapped college and school students. How the event managers were involved in drug rackets,” the official said.

After concentrating on this trio, the SIT will seek custody of other accused persons V.Ravi Kiran, Brendon Ben and A. Piyush. The SIT, which is so far focusing on Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) and Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), will concentrate on the cocaine rackets after grilling Brendon Ben.
