Hyderabad: Delayed probe means easy escape for cheats

If you find any of the following signs in your transactions, you have strong reasons to suspect fraud.

Hyderabad: Fraudsters running fake software companies are having a free run as investigations in such cases are usually delayed.

In the 2012 Prodigi Solution’s case, on which the Miyapur court is about to give a verdict, less than five out of the 54 initial witnesses are available as most of them have relocated.

Mr Shyam Rao, a victim of the scam, said that all the victims had initially fought against the management of Prodigi. “Most of them paid the management by mortgaging their property or gold with private financers. I don’t know where all the victims have gone now. We are still fighting for justice,” he said.

He added that if the police had not taken so much time in the initial stage, it might not have taken four years for the judgement.

“Out of 54 victims, people dropped from the case one by one as it was getting prolonged. As the then IT minister was the chief guest during the launch of the company, all the victims believed that it was a genuine firm, and moreover the company was established in Cyber Towers. The company wanted to focus on IT & ITES consulting, software development, content development, web designing, recruitment, outsourcing, learning & development, and staffing to generate revenue,” he said.

He added that the delay in investigation was leading to the establishment of more fake companies. “Some fraudsters who are facing cases in the city have also cheated techies and students in Vizag and other places,” he said.
