Six persons arrested, gold worth Rs 13 lakh recovered
Nellore: Nellore police recovered gold worth Rs 13 lakh worth and cash after arresting the accused in two different cases on Monday.
Chinna Bazar police, led by Circle Inspector Anwar Basha and SIs Balaramaiah and Premaiah along with a team of constables, held four accused, including a woman and a minor boy, involved in several burglaries in Nellore city on Monday.
The police team recovered gold worth Rs 9 lakh and Rs 12,000 cash from the offenders. The arrested were identified as Thupili Girish Kumar, 21, Chalamcherla Ajay, 19, Penuthota Ramesh and Pichhapati Kusuma Bhai, apart from a minor boy of Nellore.
The accused befriended a woman who is capable of arranging loans from the banks. The modus operandi of the gang was that they will target the gullible as guided by Kusuma Bhai.
The gang robbed gold ornaments worth Rs 9 lakh and Rs 12,000 cash from an elderly couple living at Brahmin Street in Moolapeta at knife point, as per the directions of Kusuma recently.
The minor boy is being sent to a juvenile home. In another incident, the police apprehended an an auto rickshaw driver, Seenaiah of Kantepalli village in Venkatachalam mandal for stealing gold worth Rs 3.78 lakh from one Mulagamudi Raghavaiah of Tirupati on June 15.
The driver managed to speed away before Raghavaiah, who travelled in the auto, could collect the bag from the auto. Police traced the habitual offender with the help of CC camera footage.
