Bengaluru: In a suspected robbery-cum-murder case, a dance master was allegedly murdered when he tried to resist a robbery bid in R.M.C. Yard in Peenya police station limits.
Police said the incident took place on late Saturday and the deceased has been identified as Prem Gautham (30), from Hassan.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Prem had come to the city on Saturday from Hassan and was going to meet his director friend.
While he was heading towards Bhoomika Studio in Goreguntepalya at to meet the director and two other friends, around three to four men approached him and asked him to handover all the valuables.
When Prem resisted, they allegedly attacked him with knife. Prem was stabbed on his thigh and abdomen after which the attackers escaped.
The incident came to light when Prem allegedly dragged himself till the studio, but died due to loss of blood. Meanwhile, Prem’s friends launched a search for him and found the body near the studio.
The police was alerted who rushed to the spot and carried out the preliminary investigation.
Dacoity accused killed
A 22-year-old youth was hacked to death by a group of four to five men after a fight over a cricket match on Sunday evening at a playground in JC Nagar in Mahalakshmi Layout police limits.
The deceased, Manikanta alias Doddakattu, was a resident of Sriramanagar in Mahalakshmi Layout. He was unemployed and was an accused in a dacoity case in Mahalakshmi Layout police station.
According to the police, around 4 pm, he along with his friends had gone to the playground in JC Nagar to play cricket. During the match, he fought with one of the players from the opponent team over a trivial issue and assaulted the player. The victim then called his friends and informed them about the incident.
Around 6 pm, four to five men came to the ground and attacked Manikanta with lethal weapons. The gang fled the scene and Manikanta died on the spot due to severe injuries. The Mahalakshmi Layout police rushed to the spot and picked up several people for questioning.
