Hyderabad: V. Rajeev Kumar and his friend B. Sravan Kumar, who were arrested in connection with the Sirisha suicide case, were sent to judicial custody for 14 days. The police had produced the duo in court on Saturday.
The police said that Sravan and Rajeev facilitated the sexual harassment that occurred at Kukunoorpally sub inspector Prabhakar Reddy's house on Monday night.
Though it was the SI, who tried to rape Sirisha after getting drunk, Rajeev and Sravan had colluded with the SI in getting Sirisha to his house. Police said the confession of the duo were filled with contradictions.
The duo had claimed that they rescued Sirisha from the clutches of the SI. But they also beat her up inside the car when they were returning to Hyderabad. From this police inferred that Rajeev and Sravan were actually trying to give an opportunity to the sub inspector to sexually assault Sirisha.
Sirisha was extremely upset as Rajeev, whom she had trusted, had thrown her into grave danger. Police said that Sravan Kumar’s actions were extremely suspicious as he was just using the quarrel between Rajeev’s new love Tejaswini and Sirisha to take her to Kukunoor-pally for the SI.
“Sravan, who hails from Nalgonda, came to Hyderabad to attend coaching for the sub inspector recruitment examination. He met Sirisha and became friends with her just a year ago. He was the one who suggested that Sirisha should meet SI Prabhakar Reddy,” said a senior police official from West Zone.
The police is likely to seek the custody of the two men to probe the matter further. Meanwhile, Sirisha’s family continued to allege that she was murdered. They said that Sirisha did not have any kind of affair with her employer.
