Karnataka: 3 fake CBI officials assault women, land in police net

The police seized a number visiting cards from the accused which had various designations from different agencies.

Bengaluru: Three people, including a woman, who posed as CBI and National Crime Investigation Bureau officials and misbehaved with the women staff of a massage parlour in Banaswadi police limits landed in the police net on Friday.

The fake officials, identified as Srinivas, Ravi and Gowramma, raided a massage parlour in Banaswadi on Friday and misbehaved with the staff on the pretext of conducting an inquiry about “illegal activities”.

Their “inquiry”, however, did not last long with the Banaswadi police arresting them from the parlour. The police seized a number visiting cards from the accused which had various designations from different agencies, including human rights commission.

The police said that the trio used the fake IDs and visiting cards to threaten people and extort money. “On Friday, they raided a massage parlour by introducing themselves as the officials of CBI and NCIB from Delhi. They misbehaved with six women working at the massage parlour and filmed them. When the women hid their faces with their dupattas, the accused assaulted them and forced them to remove it,” the police said.

The police who are investigating the case suspect that the trio may have been involved in many extortion cases and believe that victims of their fake raids might have kept quiet thinking them to be real CBI and NCIB officials.
