Vellore: A young woman killed her husband and one-year-old son at Arcot near here and lodged a police complaint they had gone missing since May 13. They had been married for a couple of years and it was a love marriage, Deepika, 20, told the police in her complaint.
The police at first thought they could get a clue of the missing man and child by scanning his mobile calls, but became suspicious when Deepika told them he had left the phone at home and went missing with the kid.
She cracked under intense questioning and confessed killing him because he was harassing her almost every evening after coming home drunk.
She also said she decided to kill the child as she did not want to leave him to face taunting from society calling him the child of a murderer. She said she buried them both close to a lake bund near their house.
On investigation along with the local tahsildar, the police team found the spot where the bodies were buried and began digging to exhume them. A team of doctors has reached the place for post-mortem.
Police have detained the woman and are also probing to find out if there were others involved in the crime as it would be impossible for a single woman to dispose the bodies.
