Chennai: Woman robbed of Rs 1.25 lakh in Royapuram

Chennai: The city police registered a case after Rs 1.25 lakh was stolen from a two-wheeler owned by a policeman in Royapuram in broad daylight, on Thursday.

“The woman had just received the money after pledging the jewels at a bank on G A Road. When she returned after withdrawing money from the nearby ATM, her bike seat had been opened, when she checked inside '1.25 lakh kept inside was missing,” a police source said.

Based on Kavitha’s complaint, the Tondiarpet police registered a case and are searching the miscreants. Interestingly, the two-wheeler belongs to an AR Constable, who is Kavitha’s relative.

“She had borrowed the vehicle from the policeman and the vehicle has ‘police’ sticker,” the sources said. Meanwhile, Abiramapuram police secured threejuveniles while they were trying to break open a juice shop in Raja Annamalaipuram on Wednesday night.
