Bengaluru: Interior designer killed in bike crash

The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Suryavamshi (46), a resident of Kamakshipalya.

Bengaluru: A 46-year-old city-based interior designer succumbed to injuries early Tuesday at Victoria Hospital, after he met with an accident in Vijayanagar on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Suryavamshi (46), a resident of Kamakshipalya.

According to the police, the incident took place around 10.45 pm on Monday, when Suryavamshi was returning home from Basavanagudi on his bike. A car came from the opposite direction and collided with his bike near New Public School. Due to the impact, Suryavamshi got tossed into the air.

The car driver panicked and fled leaving behind the vehicle. The passersby alerted the police, who shifted him to Nimhans, from where he was referred to Victoria Hospital. But Suryavamshi failed to respond to the treatment and around 2 am succumbed to injuries, police said.

Vijayanagar traffic police have registered a case and the car has been seized. The police are on the look out for the accused driver. Suryavamshi is survived by wife and two children.

Man killed in drunken brawl
A 31-year-old man died on Monday after he was assaulted by another man after a drunken brawl near Siddapura on Sunday night. The deceased, identified as Rajesh, was a resident of Bommanahalli. He was working in a warehouse in the same area.

On Sunday, he had come to his visit his father, who stays in Dayananda Nagar slum. Around 8 pm, he and his friend Rajesh Gowda went to a bar and consumed alcohol.

Around 9 pm, they stepped out and started walking towards their house. As they were going, Rajesh bumped into Balraj, who was coming from the opposite direction. Both had a heated argument, and Balraj picked up a wooden log lying on the roadside, hit Rajesh on his head and fled from the spot.

Rajesh, who started bleeding from his head, collapsed on the road. Passersby informed Rajesh's family and shifted him to a nearby hospital, the police said.
On Monday morning, Rajesh failed to respond to treatment and died. Balraj was arrested after Rajesh's family filed a complaint with the Siddapura police.
The police are investigating.
