HYDERABAD: The Special XIII ACMM, Secunderabad, on Tuesday sentenced a 45-year-old woman to five days in jail and a fine of Rs 200 for misleading the police by lodging a false complaint.
The accused, Ummalla Chennamma, had on April 15 lodged a complaint with the Karkhana police that on April 4, two unidentified persons had threatened her at knifepoint in her hut and snatched her eight-gram gold chain.
Karkhana inspector B. Ravindra said police booked a first information report (86/2023). But investigations showed that the complaint was false. The police booked Chennamma under the Commissioner of Police (CP) Act and the IPC.
