Hyderabad: Madhapur police of Cyberabad commissionerate on Monday arrested Damera Prithvi Raj, a daily-wage earner, on charges of cheating a realtor under the pretext of getting an iPhone at a subsidised price from the Indian Army canteen.
Prithvi Raj who befriended the victim through social media, made him believe that his father was an ex-serviceman and he could get any product from the Army canteen at cheaper rates. Believing him, the victim transferred Rs 81,500 to Prithvi Raj. After receiving the amount, the accused switched off his mobile phone.
Based on a complaint from the victim, police registered a cheating case and using technical evidence nabbed the accused. Police found that Prithvi Raj was earlier involved in eight similar offences.
