BRS leader kidnaps, murders document writer in Kothur

HYDERABAD: A local elected representative of the BRS allegedly masterminded the murder of a 35-year-old document writer in Kothur allegedly, owing to previous animosity.

Police said local mandal praja parishad member Madhusudhan Reddy’s family members and associates allegedly kidnapped S. Karunakar Reddy, the document writer, while he was returning home. The accused assaulted the victim while driving him around in a car.

According to police, the accused and the victim are related, and while Madhusudan Reddy wasn't directly involved in the murder, he was the prime conspirator.

Karunakar Reddy, from Kothur, was associated with Madhusudan Reddy and had opened a document writing office with the latter's assistance. However, Karunakar Reddy, who had previously worked in a vernacular daily, reportedly uncovered a few illegal activities of Madhusudhan Reddy related to some land settlements.

When Karunakar Reddy and his uncle M. Sreedhar Reddy were driving home late on Sunday, Madhusudan Reddy's brothers Vishnuvardhan Reddy and Vikram Reddy, their relative Arun Kumar Reddy and their colleague Arif intercepted them in a car.

They smashed the windows, attacked Karunakar Reddy, took him outside, and forced him into their car. They threatened Sreedhar Reddy with serious consequences before kidnapping Karunakar Reddy.

Sreedhar Reddy immediately alerted the police who filed a kidnapping case. Police teams have been dispatched to trace Karunakar Reddy. Meanwhile, Kothur police received information from a private hospital in Gachibowli early on Monday about an 'accident victim' from Kothur who was brought dead to the hospital.

Karunakar Reddy was identified in the hospital by police and his relatives. According to hospital personnel, unidentified people admitted Karunakar Reddy, alleging he was injured in an accident in Kothur.

Madhusudan Reddy and six others have been charged with murder. ACP Shamshabad V. Bhaskar stated that special teams have been sent out to find the culprits.
