Hyderabad: Gang steals 3.5 kg gold from jeweller's vehicle
Hyderabad: A gang allegedly stole 3.5 kg gold from a jeweller’s car in Kukatpally. Jeweller Abhishek Agarwal, a resident of Basheerbagh, was on his way home carrying 3.5 kg of gold in his car. Police said he had parked his car at the AS Raju Colony arch to take a phone call. Meanwhile, a group of people with a woman approached Agarwal and told him that his car’s tyre had gone flat. When he checked he found the tyre had indeed been punctured. Soon he and his employee got down to change the tyre and someone stole the gold. Agarwal, the owner of Shree Yash Jewellers, had gone to meet some potential customers in Chandanagar with the gold. The incident occurred while he was returning. The police is investigating whether the thieves had already planned the theft and punctured the tyre to divert attention.
The cops are also probing the involvement of Agarwal’s employee to check whether he had given information to the thieves. As per the complaint filed by Agarwal, he and his employee were returning from Chandanagar in his car. “When he parked his car, some people told him that his tyre had punctured. He and his employee got out of the car to change the tyre keeping the gold bag inside the car. When they got back into the car the bag was missing. Agarwal filed a complaint,” said inspector K. Purush-otham. “We are not sure who committed the crime. The complainant also has not seen the offence being committed. An investigation has been launched to find those responsible,” the inspector said. Following the complaint, a case under section 379 (theft) was registered by the police.
