Bengaluru: A 20-year-old student was molested by a biker at BTM Layout second stage in Mico Layout police limits on Saturday night. The police are yet to trace the accused.

The victim, who hails from Kolkata, is a first-year BA student at a private college in the city. The alleged incident took place around 10.15 pm on Saturday when the victim was walking towards her home on 8th Main Road in BTM Layout second stage after getting her mobile phone recharged at a shop. The biker, who followed her from a distance, allegedly tried to grope her and tried to tear her T-shirt when she resisted. As the girl started screaming for help and a few passersby came torescue, the accused sped away. “We are trying to establish the identity of the accused by analysing CCTV footage collected from the locality,” the Mico Layout police, who have registered a case, said.

The victim told Deccan Chronicle that she had moved to a new apartment just two weeks ago. “Around 9.45 pm on Saturday, I had gone to a shop to recharge my phone. While walking home, I noticed a biker following me while I was just a few metres away from my apartment. I thought he would just follow and leave as such things happen frequently. But he went past me, took a U-turn and started speeding towards me. I sensed trouble and suddenly turned back. As he held my T-shirt from back, I squatted out of fear. As he further tried to pull my shirt, I started screaming for help and he sped away. Two men, who were playing badminton on the street, came to my help and consoled me,” she said.

She reached home and informed one of her friends about the incident. Later, the same night, she went to the police station and filed a complaint. She said that the accused was riding a fancy bike. “As he was wearing a helmet I could not see his face. He was also wearing gloves. I could not see the number plate as I was in shock,” she said.
