Bengaluru: Sukesh Chandrasekhar, the alleged middleman for AIADMK leader T.T.V. Dinakaran arrested in New Delhi, has his roots in Bengaluru and has nearly a dozen cheating cases against him in the city.
Police sources said that Sukash’s modus operandi was to gain confidence of his victims by claiming to be son/close relative/friend of influential people. “He led a flamboyant lifestyle and nobody could sense that he was a professional criminal. He was well versed with English, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. Even his parents, Chandrashekhar and Mala, were arrested in some cheating cases,” an official said.
Sukesh aka Shekhar Reddy aka Balaji had his first criminal case registered against him at the Hulimavu police station in 2007 after he cheated an elderly man of over Rs 1 crore, promising him a BDA site. “He was just 17 years old then and had claimed he was a close friend of Nikhil Gowda, son of then Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. He was not arrested, but his parents were picked up. He was living with his parents at a rented house in Banashankari then. He used to get luxury cars from politicians and businessman, telling them that he would help them sell their vehicles. He drove around in these cars, making people believe that he was a rich man. He is a second PU dropout, but spoke fluent English. Nobody could suspect him because of glib talk and suave lifestyle. In that cheating case, he was arrested along with his parents,” an official said.
“He cheated people and lived only in posh houses. In 2010, he was staying at Raheja Apartments in Koramangala and tried to cheat two IAS officers, claiming to be the son of Tamil Nadu politician M.K. Azhagiri. He was arrested in that case, but he got out on bail in all cases. There are also cases where he cheated people impersonating as the son of former TN Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and politician T.R. Baalu,” the officer said.
Drift King
Sukash, who was also the live-in partner of actress Leena Maria Paul, was living with her in a house in Chandra Layout. He had also earned the title of ‘Drift King’, as he was into racing and had won in many.
Dinakaran to visit Sasi?
There were reports that AIADMK leader T.T.V. Dinakaran would meet his aunt and jailed party leader, S.K. Sasikala, at the Parappana Agrahara central prison on Monday. He came to the city on Monday late evening and is likely to meet his aunt on Tuesday.
