Hyderabad: In a hit-and-run accident, three persons, all natives of Nalgonda, were killed when a speeding MUV hit them just past midnight on Saturday at Vanasthalipuram.

According to Vanasthalipuram police, the victims were identified as Kethavath Ganapthi, 18, of Chinnamungi, Daravath Sai Kumar, 25 and Daravath Vamshi, 19, of Venkatadripuram in Nalgonda district.

Vanasthalipuram Inspector A. Venkataiah said Ganapthi, a lab technician, along with his friends Sai Kumar, a post graduate student and Vamshi, a graduate student, used to share a rented house in Omkar Nagar. After having dinner, they were standing on the road and talking opposite a food court at Gurramguda, when the vehicle hit them.

"The speeding MUV (TS 08 UE 6797) rammed into the trio and the bike. The driver of the car was negligent which resulted in the accident. The victims suffered critical injuries and died on the spot," said the inspector.

He said a case under IPC Section 304 A had been registered and the bodies of the trio were handed over to their kin after autopsy at the Osmania General Hospital.
