Hyderabad: 17-yr-old girl hangs herself after scolding
Hyderabad: Upset with her mother for scolding her for using a mobile phone for long hours at home, a 17-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling in her bathroom on Saturday night. Sanath Nagar police have registered a case of suspicious death for the investigation.
According to the police, the victim has been identified as V Sneha (17), a resident of SRT Colony in Sanath Nagar. The girl was a first year graduation student at a private college in Begumpet. Sneha was reportedly using a mobile phone at home for long hours. The girl’s mother on Saturday had warned her not to use the phone and upset with that, the girl committed suicide by hanging, the police said.
Sanath Nagar Inspector K Chandra Sekhar Reddy said, “Sneha was believed to use a mobile phone for long hours. She used to talk and text with her friends continuously. Her mother had earlier warned Sneha, to avoid using the phone at home. On Saturday, the girl’s mother warned her for not listening to her. The girl felt depressed and hanged herself from an iron rod using a cloth.”
The inspector said that Sneha’s mother went out on some work during which time the girl committed suicide. Based on her father RV Naveen’s complaint, a case of suspicious death has been registered for the probe, he said.
A similar incident had taken place at SR Nagar on Saturday, where a 13-year-old girl jumped to death.
