Police solved the suspicious death of a 27-year-old housewife who was found dead at home on Monday.

Hyderabad: Police solved the suspicious death of a 27-year-old housewife who was found dead at home on Monday, and arrested her husband for killing her for mocking him about his age and his inability to fulfil her sexual desires. The suspect, Ponnala Laxmaiah, was a cashier at the Corporation Bank branch in Madannapet.

Police said that Laxmaiah, 47, and Madhavi got married 12 years ago and had two children. On Monday Laxmaiah called Madhavi’s brother and told him that she had died in sleep. Police found that Laxmaiah had killed her. Inspector J. Narender Goud said on Monday that after the kids left for school, Laxmaiah got drunk and picked up an argument with his wife. He attacked her with his hands and an atlakada (a spoon used in the kitchen). When she became unconscious he smothered her, police said. After confirming that she was dead he placed her body on a cot. In the evening he picked up his kids from school and after coming home, told them that their mother was having heart pain and is in hospital. In the morning he told them that Madhavi had died.

Police registered a suspicious death case at first. But later, they suspected Laxmaiah and arrested him. “He admitted that he had killed his wife as she was humiliating him about his age and his inability to satisfy her sexually,” the inspector said. Police changed the case to murder and arrested Laxmaiah. He was remanded.
